We began with this question: How many ways are there to make a square on a 5x5 geoboard? The we asked:
Is there a numerical pattern or formula that can be used to determine the number of squares contained in any geoboard square?

I was getting ready to respond to you and tell you that my kids and I found 42 squares yesterday, but before I began to type I grabbed the dot paper and a pencil again.
Now I found 50 sqaures. Whew!
I suggest we do two more, say a 10 and a 12, then try to find a formula to predict how many squares we could fit into other sized geoboards.
