Angle Vocabulary

There was a question at the April coach session about naming angles that are greater than 180 degrees, but less than 360 degrees. On the "ask dr. math" website, they list the name as a "reflex" angle.

While there, as usual, I stumbled across something new I didn't know. I knew that 90 degrees is a right angle, 180 degrees is a straight angle.........

....two angles that add up to 90 degrees are complementary, two angles that add up to 180 degrees are supplementary............do you know what the name of 2 angles that add up to 360 degrees is?

Check out this link for the reward of an answer:

Thank you Shawn!!

I only knew about the 90 degrees angle and the 180 degrees I called it a straight line because to me an angle should have a bend. So I appreciate your explanations!! My struggling kids are not this far yet, but one never knows!

In my Literacy programming Read 180rBooks the word "degrees" appears in the very first unit about fire, in terms of degrees in temperature. However, I can always make it a side lesson about the other "degrees" in Geometry that they may encounter in their Math classes because these are 4 - 5th graders. For these students, vocabulary is key, whether in Literacy or in Mathematics.
